What is Dot.SmartBins?
To solve these problems, EmDoT has developed Dot.SmartBins as part of its Dot.Waste holistic solution: a comprehensive IoT-powered solution that integrates smart sensors, and real-time route optimization to transform waste collection into a proactive, data-driven service. Dot.SmartBins redefines waste bins management process by automating tasks, optimizing operations and ultimately providing improved services to citizens.
It consists of:
- ED120 and ED220 IoT devices for monitoring bin fill level, location, and collection. The device is installed on the upper rear part of waste bins and periodically monitors fill level, filling rate, alerts for potential bin movements, detects possible bin tip-overs, identifies potential fires, and records collection events. The device is suitable for waste environments (resistant to bin washing, impacts, etc.).
- Cloud SaaS software for monitoring current fill levels, predicting fill levels per bin, correlating bin volume and mass, digitally mapping the bin network, automatically routing waste collection vehicles, real-time monitoring of the collection process while accounting for the progressive weight of waste in the vehicle, and dynamic rerouting.
- The bin identification and weighing system, installed on the waste collection vehicle, records the unique bin identifier, date and time, geographic location, vehicle, and weight of each collection
